Problem

With the current frequency of natural disasters, the first responders who work to keep us calm are often overlooked.

So, we decided to shift the focus back to first responders by providing them with the biometrics needed to perform at their best.

Research

First responders don't only deal with stress but

30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions

How Would This Be Implemented?

Not just one device, but a group

This system would provide information regarding the health conditions of the current first responder, including when they need a break. It is intended to be used within a group of first responders, with data sent back to the main controller. This would allow team members to swap out and make mission decisions based on the information available.

Ideation

How to display all this information?

Due to the device collecting a large amount of information, we needed to display it in a visually appealing way. We drew inspiration from various design concepts, using boxes and dividers to organize the data effectively.

We also sketched ideas for the wearable device

Mid-Fidelity

Should we continue?

Despite major setbacks and a record-breaking snowstorm, we discussed ending the project, but we persevered and created designs that could be tested and reviewed by others to gather valuable input.

User Testing

Working out the kinks

When we spoke with our mentor, she provided valuable insight on how to approach the project differently and where we should focus our time for the remainder of the work. She also showed us how to present the project in a way that effectively conveys the story behind it.

Polishing and fixing

We just needed to improve the graphics and the overall story of the device, making it cohesive with our original mission. This allowed us to capture the true nature of the problem we had wanted to highlight.

Final Iteration
